ADR (Drivers) Refresher Course
Your ADR Certificate is valid for a period of five years.
If you want to renew it you must attend a Refresher Course, and have taken and passed the exams, within the last twelve months prior to the expiry date.
The first day (CORE) 7hours only, can now be registered to Driver CPC Periodic Training
There is an additional charge to register the hours
Your new certificate will run from the expiry date of your original licence for a further period of five years.
You can only take a refresher course for the modules and classes on their current certificate.
If a candidate fails any module or class of their refresher course they will have to attend an initial course and retake the exams, in those they have failed.
You are not allowed to drive a vehicle transporting dangerous substances if your original licence has expired and you are not in possession of your renewed licence even if you have completed the examination.
You must be in possession of your renewed licence.
If you fail to allow sufficient lead time for SQA to process your examination papers and your renewed licence to be issued before the expiry date of your old licence.
Then you may have to re-take the full ADR initial course again in the modules and classes you require.
SQA advise us that candidates should allow a minimum of five weeks lead time from taking the refresher course to receive their licence.
Bearing in mind this does not allow time for the possibility of a candidate failing some of the modules or classes which entails resitting the classroom session on an initial course and retaking the exam.
It is sensible to book your refresher course well in advance, we would suggest, at least three months prior to the expiry date of your old licence.
Remember, you are the only person who will lose if you do not take your refresher in time.
