CPC Examinations
National Road Haulage Examinations
The examinations set by the O.C.R. for national road haulage CPC consists of three Units
UNIT 1 (Core)
A paper of 30 multiple-choice questions is set and 45 minutes allowed for completion of the paper. Subjects covered are areas common to both Road Haulage and Passenger transport operation, i.e. Finance, Law, Industrial Relations and Heath & Safety.
UNIT 2 (Road Haulage)
40 Multiple-choice questions within a time of 60 minutes. Dealing with road haulage subjects only.
UNIT 4 (Case Study)
The candidate is given details of a non-existent transport organisation (a Senario), which must be read and understood in order to answer 8 questions relating to this company and covering the subject matter from modules 1 and 2.
The pass mark for Unit 4 is 50% overall, the first 4 questions require a pass mark of 65%, the final 4 questions require a pass mark of the balance to atain 50% overall.
Unit 4 includes the ability to complete certain calculations, write a number of paragraphs of text outlining the actions to be taken in response to various situations, produce lists of key points, and draw up instructions for staff members.
Candidate will be expected to express themselves in clear simple English and to be able to make use of hand held calculators.
(Be sure you understand your own calculator as percentage calculations can vary on different calculators).
To achieve success, and a full CPC National Certificate, candidates must pass all three Units.
Candidates need to hold a CPC National for an International to be valid.
International Road Haulage Examinations
UNIT 6
The examinations set by the O.C.R. for international road haulage CPC lasts 1 hour and consists of one Unit, split into two parts:
Part A
Between 12 and 14 ‘direct' questions worth 20 marks. A score of 70% on part A is required to pass this element of the exam. Direct questions require a direct answer, the candidate will be expected to write in the correct answer e.g. "The season after Spring is..."
Part B
This part is an international transport case study. You will have to answer three questions and a score of at least 50% on part B is required to pass this element of the exam. Candidates will be presented with a scenario about an international haulage company and will have to answer the three questions directly related to the case study.
Please Note:
- Unit 3 and 5 are National Passenger Modules and do NOT need to be attempted in order for candidates to pass the National and International courses.
